Valve's rating
The current compatibility report resolves to Verified. The passing notes cover default controller configuration, glyphs, legible interface text and performance under Valve’s test conditions. A compatibility badge is not a guaranteed frame rate for every scene and setting.
Steam requires 4 GB of available storage; it does not provide a measured download size in that requirement. The technical FAQ edited 14 October 2026 confirms a native Linux build optimized only for Steam Deck. Its newer native-build guidance supersedes the older general FAQ’s plan to use Proton.
What players reported on launch day
Steam discussion posts dated around 14 October 2026, collected by a community database, describe an LCD Deck near 40 FPS on the Low preset with textures High, FSR3 Quality, and 720p. Another report puts LCD and OLED mostly at 45 FPS at 720p with vegetation raised one step and spotlight shadows on, plus occasional stutters.
Those are individual reports, not a lab test. Our suggested starting point is Low preset, 1280×720, High textures, FSR3 Quality, Low vegetation and spotlight shadows off. Try a SteamOS frame limit if useful. The actual in-game Deck default preset is not verified here; no uncited database default is presented as fact.
