Over the Hill

What “over the hill” means

Checked 17 October 2026. Updated 2026-10-16.

If you searched the phrase and landed on a driving game, you are in the right kind of confusion. I put the game first because that is why this domain exists, then the dictionary sense, then the other works that share the title. I am not building a page for each film.

The game

Over the Hill, styled in lowercase by the developer, is an off-road exploration game from Funselektor Labs. The PC version launched on Steam on 14 October 2026 for Windows and Linux. Consoles are planned for 2027. The store page is app 2929250. Start at the home page if that is what you wanted.

It is a driving game, not a race, in 4x4s from the 1960s to the 1980s, solo or with up to four players online. Price and platforms have their own pages because those facts move.

The idiom, then everything else

Wiktionary defines “over the hill” as idiomatic: of a person, old, past the prime of life, with “worn out” as a related sense. I am not adding a birthday-age claim on top of that definition. The dictionary entry is the citation.

Wikipedia’s disambiguation page, which our research rechecked on 16 October 2026, also lists films titled Over the Hill (including 1917, 1931, and 1992 cuts), Over the Hill to the Poorhouse, a television series, a Thomas & Friends episode, the traditional song and later recordings of “Over the Hills and Far Away”, and a place-name pointer toward Nassau. Nassau is not a region in the game. There will not be separate pages for those works here.

Questions

Is Over the Hill a game or a saying?

Both. The saying is about being past one’s prime. The game is Funselektor’s 2026 off-road title. This site covers the game.

Is there a song called Over the Hill?

The well-known title in that neighbourhood is “Over the Hills and Far Away”, which is a different phrase. Wikipedia’s disambiguation lists several recordings.
