Over the Hill

Over the Hill multiplayer

Checked 17 October 2026. Updated 2026-10-17.

I read the Steam feature list and the developer FAQ on 16 October 2026. The line that matters is "up to three friends." That is four people, counting you. Solo play is a full way to play, not a locked demo of co-op.

How many players

Steam categories include Single-player, Multi-player, Co-op, and Online Co-op. The store description says you can take the trails solo or with up to three friends. That is one player alone, or two to four players online.

I did not find a PvP, race, or ranked category. The studio's own line is that this is a driving game, not a racing game.

What co-op actually changes

Progress is tracked per player. The official FAQ says you can help someone reach an objective, but each player still has to reach the checkpoint themselves. A host finishing a climb does not fill in a guest's log. That is the usual reason a session feels like "lost progress."

During the June 2026 demo the studio posted Asia server improvements and a ping display with a server browser. Meteorites are the other co-op hook: community notes say the largest rocks need more than one driver on the winch. Treat the size table as community data. The currency name, Pebbles, is in the official demo post.

Questions

Is Over the Hill crossplay?

The official general FAQ answers yes to cross-play. Treat that as a developer commitment, not proof of a tested PC-to-console session before the console versions arrive in 2027. The final supported platform matrix is not verified here.

Does it have split-screen?

Steam lists online co-op, not local co-op. The developer general FAQ says local co-op is not feasible at the moment; no console-specific split-screen commitment is provided.
