Over the Hill

Does Over the Hill have split-screen?

Checked 17 October 2026. Updated 2026-10-17.

I checked the Steam category list for a local or split-screen tag and did not find one. The FAQ thread gives the same answer. If you wanted two controllers on one TV, that mode is not in the PC game.

Online only

Steam lists Online Co-op. It does not list Shared/Split Screen or local co-op. The sessions run on the studio's servers, which is why the demo patches talked about a server browser, ping, and region routing.

The alternative that does exist is online co-op with up to three friends, four players in total. Broadband internet is in the minimum requirements, which matches a server-based session.

Consoles have not added it

PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 are planned for 2027. The general developer FAQ describes local co-op as not feasible at the moment. There is no verified console-specific promise of split-screen; the presence of online or cross-play support does not imply a couch mode.

Same-room play would still be two copies online, on two screens, until a local mode is actually announced.

Questions

Can two people play Over the Hill on one PS5?

No split-screen mode has been announced for PS5. The console version itself is set for 2027, without a local-co-op promise.

How do friends play together now?

Buy the Steam version and join an online session. The cap is four players, and each person keeps their own progress.
