Over the Hill vs Outbound
Checked 17 October 2026. Updated 2026-10-17.
People mix these up because both are 2026 co-op games with a vehicle in the trailer. I read Outbound’s store description instead of guessing. Square Glade’s line is to explore a colourful world and build a cozy home on wheels. Funselektor’s line is to drive 1960s to 1980s 4x4s on trails. Those are different verbs.

The row I checked
Over the Hill: Funselektor Labs, 14 October 2026, $24.99, Windows and Linux, no macOS, one to four online. Outbound: Square Glade Games, 11 May 2026, $24.99, Windows only in the capture I used, up to four players in its own store copy. I am quoting that player line, not restating it as a feature I tested.
Outbound’s description continues: craft workstations, take energy from sun, wind, or water, upgrade the vehicle, grow crops, live off-grid. Over the Hill’s description stays on trails, scenery, and friends. If you want solar panels, you want Outbound. If you want a winch and a ridge, you want this game.
They are bundled on purpose
The earlier research recorded an Over the Hill x Outbound Steam bundle. A same-day bundle checkout quote is not verified here. The individual US prices checked on 17 October 2026 are $19.99 for Over the Hill after its launch discount and $24.99 for Outbound with no discount.
I would not call them substitutes. A co-op group that wants both a driving evening and a building evening can buy the bundle. Everyone else should pick the verb. Co-op rules for this game are on multiplayer. The wider list is on games like Over the Hill.
Questions
Is Outbound on Linux?
The store capture used for this page listed Outbound as Windows only. Over the Hill lists Windows and Linux, and not macOS. Recheck Steam if you are buying for a deck or a Mac.
Is there a bundle?
The earlier research recorded a Steam bundle combining the games. Its current combined price is not verified here; use the Steam purchase panel rather than an old bundle total.
